And for some, it can be the embarrassment around asking for money, insecurities, imposter syndrome, or wanting things to be “perfect” right out of the gate.
Whatever you struggle with around self-promotion, don’t let it stop you from sharing your gifts, getting your message out there, and getting paid to do work you love.
Here’s the thing—no matter what you do, someone, somewhere is going to have something to say about what you do and how you do it. This is true in both business and life.
So don’t let your fear, embarrassment, self-consciousness, or perfectionism hold you back from proudly talking about your business, helping people who need you, and putting your work out into the world.
So what’s the “best” way to overcome the fear of putting yourself out there?
Get clear on why you’re doing this work.
If there’s one thing that can help you overcome just about any fear when it comes to business, it’s getting clear on your why. This is the deeper reason why you’re in business that spans beyond just making money. The reason why your work matters to you or others.
Maybe for you, it’s about fulfilling your mission, purpose, or doing the work you were born to do. Or maybe it’s about leaving a legacy, changing people’s lives, or creating financial freedom for you and your family.
When you’re clear on why you’re doing this work, your mission becomes greater than your fear. And that’s when you tap into your inner power to take action in the face of fear.
So what’s your business why? Why are you doing this work? Why does it matter?

Anytime you’re feeling anxious about marketing your business, refocus your thoughts on your why. It’s your biggest motivator and source of inspiration that will help you overcome resistance so you can proudly share your work with the people who need you.
Now, if you still feel uncomfortable at the thought of putting yourself out there, that’s normal! The goal here isn’t to be “fearless.“ It’s to do the mindset work that allows you to feel the fear but keep going anyways.
It’s about moving beyond your fear so you can do whatever it takes to create a successful business around work you love. If you have an offer you believe in and have a strong why behind it, you’ll be unstoppable!
