Before you step into the middle of your week, I want to give you a sweet reminder today, you ready?
You’re Not a Machine
It’s true, you’re not a machine and you can’t expect yourself to perform like one. In the high paced world we live in today, it can feel like we’ve gotta keep up with everyone & everything around us, but our mind and bodies haven’t caught up to our ideal work flow.
Compare & Despair
When we’re looking to create productivity standards for ourselves, we often look to see what others are doing. At times, looking up to people we admire for specific strategies can be useful but it can also be the ultimate productivity trap! If you’re like me, you look at strangers on the internet and think, how the hell do they get shit done? Oh, and how can I do the same? It’s easy to get caught up comparing yourself to all those other “productive” people you see doin’ their thing but you never really know the entire story behind the scenes. You’ve seen it before! Take this quote for example:
“You Have the Same Amount of Hours in a day as Beyonce”
Although this quote is cute, it’ll get you in the compare and despair mindset. Let’s face it, you’ve got some crazy expectations for your productivity levels and it stems from you comparing yourself to other people. When you compare your results to others’, you start to create an ideal image of a super duper productive YOU that you want to live up to.
You’ve Got Limits
Trying to keep up with this image you’ve created may be pushing you beyond your limits. While you’re working, it’s important keep in mind that you have limits and I believe rest & recovery is the key to being more productive. If you wanna prevent burnout, treat yourself with care and give yourself much deserved downtime.
The fact that you may have crazy high expectations for your productivity, is not your fault. The concept of human productivity has gotten so out of control that people are clinging to the idea that they must work non-stop to accomplish great things, but that’s certainly not true. Holding onto the “work harder” mentality can actually be getting in the way of you operating at your full potential.
Schedule Guilt-Free Time
You need special time for rest, relaxation, sleep and of course a little play so that when it’s time for you to perform, well, you perform at your peak. When you’re in the zone you’re full of energy and laser focused, allowing you get more done in less time. If you neglect one of these core areas, it can create chaos in your work and life. I’ve got one powerful strategy that will have a huge impact on how much you not only enjoy your work, but your life.
Remember, your goal is to keep your momentum up without burning out. You want to create your business and life without sacrificing your sanity.
- What activity can you do at least once a week that recharges you and gives you space to relax?
- TAKE ACTION: Schedule your special activity in your calendar and DO IT. If it’s not scheduled, well, it won’t happen!
***Please do this for yourself, your family and the people you’re serving. You can’t show up and step into your full potential if you’re burnt out. This will help you, but only if you implement.
Embracing and implementing this one powerful rest & recovery strategy will help you recharge and get more done. On top of that, you’ll be more at ease and you’ll make life more enjoyable. That’s my promise to you!
Love,
Noelle
P.S. I was inspired to write this for you because I’ve been struggling with scheduling down time for myself and I’m feeling the effects. I have this “Get it Done Now” mentality and when I start something, I won’t stop until I’m finished. I’m not in burnt out mode but if I don’t make some changes quick, I can see it coming. It happens when you love what you do so much right?!
As always, a sincere thank you for being here.
I hope I served you well today!
Noelle
