One thing that irritates my soul is all of the bad advice out there about what it takes to build a success online business.
Bad business advice creates unnecessary fears and anxiety that stop you from building the kind of business and life you envision.
To help you squash your business fears, let me set the record straight!
If you dream of building your business around your skills, experience and expertise, here are 5 common misconception that can hold you back…
1. “You need a bunch of college degrees, special education or certification programs to be seen as credible.”
FALSE. You do not need a degree. What’s most important is that you build an expertise in something, have deep knowledge about your topic, and most importantly can get people results given your skills, experience and expertise. If you’ve mastered your topic, you are not a fake and can kiss “imposter syndrome” goodbye for good!
2. “You need a lot of money to start.”
FALSE. You do not need to spend a lot of money to get started and I don’t recommend you spend a lot of money before you know your product, program or service is viable. It’s not about how much money you spend, but about where you choose to invest it for your biggest ROI. The good thing is that the tools you need to make money online are often simple, cheap and easy to use.
3. “You need a big team.”
FALSE. You do not need a big team to launch a profitable offer and make good money online. You don’t need an Online Business Manager to run the show, a virtual assistant to do tedious tasks, a brand designer to make everything pretty, or a copywriter to write your marketing. What you do need is a strategic, step-by-step plan and your willingness to do the work.
4. “You need a big audience or thousands of people on your email list to make money.”
FALSE. You do not need a big social media following or an email list with thousands of people to make money online. What’s more important is that you build the right kind of audience for the value you want to offer. In this case, it’s all about quality over quantity.
5. “You can’t charge premium prices if you’re just starting.”
FALSE. You can charge premium prices for your products, programs and services, even if you’re just starting. You do not have to work for free or be the cheapest on the block if you don’t want to. When you get clear on your unique brand positioning and can communicate your value, you can charge premium prices and attract high-paying customers.
Don’t let bad advice and common misconceptions of business hold you back from getting started and moving your business forward.
Learn how to spot unfounded fears and overcome self-doubt that will prevent you from making a decision that your future self will thank you for.
If you want to transform your business and life like never before, you have to look beyond common misconceptions in business.
Now that these myths have been debunked, I hope it alleviates some business fears.
Cheers to overcoming your business fears,
Noelle
